Forum – Islamic Theological Studies (fits)

About

The journal Forum – Islamic Theological Studies is an international journal whose goals are the promotion of scholarly discourse and the conceptualization of Islamic theology and religious education. Interdenominational, interdisciplinary, multi-perspective and dialogical in orientation, it aims to stimulate – as a platform for exchange between traditional Islamic scholarship and contemporary positions and approaches – scholarly debates in the various sub-disciplines of Islamic theology as well as on sociological and pedagogical issues concerning ‘Islam’ and Muslims.

From its self-understanding as an intra- and interreligiously oriented medium, the journal Forum – Islamic Theological Studies is open to contributions from disciplines related to the subject, such as Islamic Studies, Religious Studies, Sociology of Religion, and other theologies. At the same time, it attaches particular importance to reflecting the diversity within Islam by allowing a variety of voices from different Islamic faiths or schools of law to have their say.

Original contributions from the established Islamic canon of subjects such as Quranic sciences and Quranic exegesis, hadith sciences, the teaching of norms, mysticism, ethics and philosophy, systematic-discursive theology, religious pedagogy and didactics will find a place in Forum – Islamic Theological Studies , as will first publications on the topics of congregational pedagogy and pastoral care, Islam and plurality, the results of interreligious research, and religious-sociological analyses of Muslims and Islam in Europe.

The journal Forum – Islamic Theological Studies addresses scholars and students from the fields of Islamic theology and religious education as well as from related disciplines such as Oriental studies, Islamic studies, or sociology of religion, and representatives of other faiths. Furthermore, it aims to address actors and officials of faith institutions such as mosque associations, Muslim associations and representative organizations as well as religious educators, teachers, schools and educational institutions.

The journal Forum – Islamic Theological Studies publishes not only the results of scientific research in German and English, but also reviews. Before publication, each article undergoes a peer review process based on the principle of mutual anonymity (‘double-blind’).
