60 Jahre Nomos Verlag

Nomos looks back on six successful decades

Since 1964, Nomos Verlagsgesellschaft has combined tradition with innovation and, as one of the leading academic publishers, has shaped the legal, social sciences and humanities. The publisher’s success story is based on close co-operation with experts and partners from academia and practice, authors and editors as well as partner publishers.

The figures speak for themselves: over 1,200 books and more than 80 journals are published every year. Through the Nomos eLibrary and the leading legal database beck-online, Nomos offers its users online access to a comprehensive full range of products. Open access formats are also an integral part of the offering in order to promote academic exchange and international reach.

On this anniversary day, special thanks go to the publisher’s customers, partners, authors, editors and employees. Their loyalty and shared commitment are what make the publishing house’s success possible in the first place and reflect the trust placed in its work.

In conjunction with the anniversary, Nomos Verlag is also presenting the new Nomos image film today, which shows in impressive images how the publishing house’s core values – excellence, trust, progress, community and independence – are lived on a daily basis. This film illustrates what has driven Nomos for 60 years and what perspectives the publishing house is pursuing for the future.

Nomos Verlag stands for trustworthy content on all distribution channels and communication at eye level. We offer guidance and expertise at the highest level – that is our brand essence, today and in the future. We can only achieve this with strong authors, whom we support and to whom I would like to thank on behalf of the entire staff for their cooperation over the past decades.

Thomas Gottlöber , Managing Director Nomos Verlagsgesellschaft

With a clear focus on quality and international networking, Nomos Verlag creates the basis for scientific progress and practical knowledge transfer. Since its beginnings as August Lutzeyer Verlag, Nomos has developed into a leading publisher in the legal, social sciences and humanities through co-operations, digital offerings and targeted acquisitions such as the publishing houses Tectum, Ergon, Rombach Wissenschaft, Karl Alber and Georg Olms as well as the subsidiary Vittorio Klostermann.
