Edition Sigma
Our chosen emphasis is represented by the sibilance of the Greek letter ‘Sigma’ – the Social Sciences. Since 1984, edition sigma has been publishing academic works in the field of Social Sciences, be they introductions, overviews of specific subject areas or special areas of research. As of 2015, edition sigma is proud to count itself as part of the Nomos Publishing Group in Baden-Baden.
Target Audience
Our books are especially popular with sociologists, academics and students who depend on reliable, definitive research. We also have a large base of non-academic readers who seek an understanding of society and are interested in resolving contemporary social problems. We currently have 500 academic books in publication and publish 25-30 new titles per annum.
Better Books for a Better Society
Critics often claim that the subject of sociological research is misplaced. They believe that sociologists ought to be intent on creating a better society by prioritising the resolution of social problems and finding answers to social change. We believe that change starts with knowledge: in order to create a better society, we must first publish better books. It is this motto that guides our publishing every step of the way.
